Northumberland Film Sundays
Mission Statement
We are a group of film lovers dedicated to offering access to a diverse range of films not otherwise available at local cinemas.
We choose our films from the current TIFF FILM CIRCUIT Release Schedule which is comprised of a selected list of films with Canadian distributors and a limited theatrical release pattern.
As part of the Northumberland arts community, NFS aims to present films of high quality which serve to entertain, inform and offer perspectives from the world of contemporary Canadian and International cinema, with a focus on stories and story-telling.
We are a not-for-profit group. We will periodically make contributions to Northumberland County organizations when a cash surplus permits.
Films are screened at Rainbow Cinemas at Northumberland Mall in Cobourg on Sunday afternoons.
Rhonda Cunningham thanks NFS for donation
- 1291
As announced on May 25 and reported here, NFS made a donation to Northumberland Hills Hospital of $5000. (As patrons know, donations are possible when there is a surplus of funds). Further to that announcement, Rhonda Cunningham, Executive Director at the Hospital’s Foundation, was at the screening of Familiar Touch on September 21. Rhonda spoke about how the donation was contributing to the purchase of Hospital Equipment. This includes a new MRI and sterilising equipment and more. She also listed some hospital statistics including that last year, there were over 500 babies born at the hospital and over 40,000 visits to the emergency room.
But most of all, Rhonda expressed gratitude for the NFS generosity (photo at right).
NFS Donates to Northumberland Hills Hospital
- 2253
As funds become available, Northumberland Film Sundays makes donations to local Charities since NFS is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. Before the screening of Universal Language on May 25, NFS volunteer Glenda Jackson presented Jen Gilmer with a cheque of $5,000 for Northumberland Hills Hospital. This brings the total NFS donations to more than $50,000. Go here for details.
